Uganda's National Bird: Grey-Crowned Crane

Do you remember what Uganda's national flag looks like? Remember how there was a bird in the center? That bird is Uganda's national bird, the Grey-Crowned Crane!

The Grey-Crowned Crane is an endangered bird and is the only kind of crane to roost in trees! This crane lives all over eastern and southern Africa. Grey-Crowned Cranes like wetlands and grasslands, so that is why they live in so many areas. They typically have 2-5 eggs at one time, more than most cranes. These cranes make a booming, honking sound due to inflating an air sac under their chin!

If you would like to color a Grey-Crowned Crane, here is a fun page from TheColor.com.

The facts came from Durrell and the photos came from The Internet Bird Collection.
